The government issued guidelines encouraging people to follow social distances and avoid going out in May as well. More people are now using streaming services during lockdowns for some much-needed entertainment. This might be great news for streaming giants like Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video. However, the film studios felt the full force of the crisis because all the theaters were shut down.
Therefore, here’s the list of Bollywood movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar that are lined up for digital release.
Gulabo Sitabo – Amazon Prime Video
Gunjan Saxena – Netflix
Gunjan Saxena is a biopic film based on Gunjan Saxena, the IAF pilot who was the first Indian female airforce pilot in combat. It features Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, in pivotal roles being Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi and Manav Vij. The film is made through Dharma Productions. It was released on June 12, 2020.
Shakuntala Devi – Amazon Prime Video
Shankuntala Devi featuring Vidya Balan is another Amazon Prime Video movie that joins the Indian show list. This biopic tells the true story of Shankuntala Devi, best known as a human-computer and capable of solving complex calculations in seconds. This film was directed by Anu Menon.
Bulbbul – Netflix
Bulbbul is the next production by Anushka Sharma to be released on Netflix. This horror or supernatural thriller film, directed by Anvita Dutt, features the leading roles of Tripti Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Rahul Bose, Paoli Dam, Parambrata Chattopadhyay. It is expected to be released on 26 June 2020.
Aarya- Disney+ Hotstar
Aarya features are Sushmita Sen, Sikander Kher, Ankur Bhatia and Namit Das. Television series Aarya is about to be launched on Hotstar, Disney+. Movie Aarya is the upcoming web television series of the Indian crime drama produced by Ram Madhvani based on the Dutch play Penoza by Pieter Bart Korthuis. Aarya is expected to be released on 19 June 2020.
Laxmi Bomb: Bollywood Movies to Release on Disney+ Hotstar
Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani are featured in Laxmi Bomb. This is a horror comedy directed by Lawrence Raghava. It revolves around a transgender man possessed by a ghost. The film was supposed to hit the theaters on May 22, but Laxmi Bomb will be released online as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
Dilli – Amazon Prime Video
Dilli will be featuring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Mohd Zeeshan Ayub, and Sarah Jane Dias in a political thriller. The series was produced and managed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
